Eat what you love…
Eating what you love is the best way to ensure that you stay on tract when trying to lose weight. Everyone knows that the worst feeling is to eat meals that are not enjoyable only to find out later that you still have not lost weight. It is very easy to get the weight loss blues when you are dissatisfied with the food that you eat. Imagine going to a party and all your favorite food is on display. Everyone is enjoying the food, and you have to munch on some celery or miss that delicious cheesecake. Chose to eat what you love and prevent the guilt trip.
Reduce your intake amount…
Just because you are on a diet does not mean that you must miss your favorite foods. Just consider decreasing the amount of food that you consume. If you normally consume 3 sodas per day, try cutting back to one or two. Replace sugary drinks with water and your taste buds will eventually adapt. The same goes for meals: cut back by reducing meal intake by a third then a half. Use a small plate instead of a large one. The American Heart Association plate method is a good way to go about it. It involves visualizing your plate and putting together a meal that has one half of your plate with non-starchy vegetables. The next half is divided into two with one quarter of your favorite protein and the other quarter has Carbs. Put just enough food on it to fill the middle. Losing weight is not a quick fix. It will be difficult at first and you may stray a few times. Just keep trying and you will see results.
Here is an example of one of my favorite meals…

Finally, add exercise to your daily routine…
You don't need to join a gym or dive headfirst into a fitness program. Consider just adding some easy exercise, such as taking a 15-minute walk after a meal. This helps your digestion and allows you to burn off any excess calories you have consumed. Walking is less strenuous on the knees, but it can pack just as much punch as any workout. Consider increasing your walk time by five minutes daily and then adding more days to your walk schedule.
Changes may not show up in one month, but you will notice your clothes fitting better as you lose inches and finally in pounds, replacing fat with muscles. Plus, walking is also good for your heart health. These simple steps have helped me in staying on track and maintain a healthy lifestyle. How do you keep the weight off?
